On a rainy Saturday, March 14, 2009, Ken took me to a Logging Modelers Conference held in the basement of the Camp 18 Restaurant on Highway 26 about twenty-five miles east of Seaside. The restaurant has about 5 acres of old logging equipment which was awesome because of the size of the machines. Ken entered his diorama into the competition; it was the Hull-Oakes steam powered saw mill. Ken modeled the 3 rail spurs that service the lumber shipment area. Ken had a poster board explaining the model and his computer was playing some footage of the actual train (the line is now shut down permanently). Ken placed 3rd in his division. I won a door prize of a 1925 equipment catalogue of Willamette Iron Works steam boilers.

Great pictures, dad. What a fun weekend! I'm enjoying the Legend of Colton H. Bryant. (I'm assuming you lent it to me?) See you Friday!
